WAITING FOR JUST THE RIGHT ONE
Don't be discouraged if, when you first visit us, there are no animals of the breed or type that you are interested
in. MCHS takes in new animals every day. We also have a waiting list and can call you when an animal matching
your preference becomes available. Before choosing your pet, you can speak with an adoption counselor about
whether your choice of a particular type or breed will be best for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions. This
commitment must work for you as well as the pet.
In an effort to make good matches between people and animals and to place pets in lifelong homes, MCHS
provides adoption counseling and follow-up assistance, such as pet parenting and dog training classes and
behavior counseling. Adoption fees are usually much less than the purchase price of an animal from a pet store
or breeder. Your new pet will be vaccinated, de-wormed, and spayed or neutered and ready for their new forever
We consider the fee a small donation towards the cost of caring for the animal while in our care. It may be
tempting to look for a free pet in your local classifieds rather than pay a pet adoption donation, but the reality is no
pet is free. You'll be responsible for the vet care, food and supplies for the rest of their life. Pet adoption fees vary
by organization but often only cover the very basic veterinary care you would have to pay for with your "free" pet.
You will find our fees are very competitively priced.
$15-35. Flee/tick treatment: $50-200.
